Cases of people bitten by dogs from 2013 until April 2014

Balinese people are used to have a dog as a pet. In fact, almost all the houses in Bali there must be a dog. Every family in Bali has at least one dog. Dogs used as pets by residents of Bali with a variety of reasons. As a guard house, a friend to play, because like, because it was used, so that the house does not feel lonely, and so on. Unfortunately, the majority of pet dogs in Bali are not treated. So it appears a lot of problems related to human and pet health, one of which is rabies.

Rabies is a disease caused by a virus. In Bali, rabies virus has become epidemic since a few years ago. Many people have died from rabies. The government has done everything to resolve a rabies outbreak. Ranging from vaccinations to dogs, to kill stray dogs without owners. In Bali, an outbreak of rabies in dogs and is transmitted to humans through the bite of a dog.

Cases of people bitten by dogs in Bali, which was recorded from 2013 until April 2014, approximately 3782 cases. The case grew from last year. Increasing cases of dogs biting people in Bali, caused by the increasing number of people of Bali who have dogs. If the first people raise dogs are mostly located in rural areas, but since the trend races raise dogs, people living in cities also became like a dog. So the dog population in Bali is increasing every year. Even people raise dogs not only one, but more. The grounds are very fond of dogs.

In the year 2013 until April 2014, in Denpasar there are 521 dog bite cases per month, Badung regency 720 cases, Gianyar 562 cases, Buleleng 460 cases, Tabanan 450 cases, Karangasem 359 cases, Bangli  283 cases, Klungkung 216 cases, and 191 case in Jembrana.

Very many cases of dog bites in Bali, the increasing impact on Balinese people who need anti-rabies vaccine. Therefore, since the outbreak of rabies in Bali in 2008 ago, residents become more responsive to get the vaccine if they are bitten by dogs.
