Mount Batur is one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia

Mount Batur is one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia and has a height of 1,717 meters. This mountain has a large caldera that is considered one of the largest and most beautiful in the world. Mount Batur is composed of three volcanic cones with each crater, Batur-I, Batur-II dan Batur-III.

Inside the caldera there is a crescent-shaped lake that occupies the southeastern part of the length is about 7.5 km, maximum width 2.5 km, the circumference of about 22 km and width about 16 km2, which is called Lake Batur.

Situated in the Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Mount Batur is located approximately 64 kilometers northeast of Denpasar. This mountain has erupted more than 26 times since 1804. Biggest eruption was in 1926 that led to the village of Batur is covered by lava. The last eruption occurred in 2000, but fortunately it's not a big eruption. So the village of Batur is located south of the volcano that is now is a new village that was built after the eruption.

According to a number of business hotels in Toyabungkah, where it began the ascent, had almost all the tourists who stay in Toyabungkah make the climb to Mount Batur.
